Eastman’s Women’s Tennis Wins Championship

I don’t have all the details but the Eastman Woman’s tennis team won the Upper Valley Summer Tennis League Championship.

After a competitive summer schedule the women ended up finishing first in the standings. This gave them home court advantage through the quarter and semi-final matches. After not dropping a match (I actually think they didn’t drop a set!) in the first two playoff rounds Eastman headed to The Quechee Club to play in the finals.

Once again the women stepped up their play, winning all three matches and proudly bringing home the championship banner.

A special thank you goes out to Christine Cecchetti for being captain of the team. After several years she is passing the torch. A great way to go out Christine, with the title of Champion.

Updated Eastman NH Home For Sale

Updated Eastman NH home

Updated, move right in.

This Eastman Community home, located in the town of Grantham has been transitioned into a lovely and charming home. Some of the upgrades include: granite counter tops, plenty of kitchen storage, new flooring, and paint throughout.

The sunshine pours into this home due to the southern exposure and the abundance of windows on the south side. This property has two ECA owned retired lots on the north side so privacy is protected.

Bedroom size is very generous as both bedrooms on the second floor are as big as anyone should ever need. The screened porch gets morning sun but by evening the shade from the trees takes over and keeps the porch cool. If kids need a place to play there is a nice level, grass back yard. For the bigger kids the ski and hiking trails are just a few hundred feet down the road. Walk to the lake and beach or just ski/stroll about the trails.

This home is priced well below assessed value, $100,000 below! There is some work to be done by the new owner but the major items seem to all be in good working order. With a bit of elbow grease and a coat of paint you will own a fine and beautiful home. Waterfront is always a sought after property.

The master has plenty of closet space and a bathroom divided in two. A private water-closet and a separate room with a tub/shower, sink and laundry area.

Enjoy cozy warm wood fires in the beamed ceiling family room. The screened porch has a brick hearth for cooking with wood.

The lower level has a good sized media room/den with it’s own fireplace. Two bedrooms of ample size, a Wine Room that’s 7’9x 5’6″. This gives you plenty of storage. Eastman Women Tennis Players Reach Finals

The Eastman Woman’s Tennis team defeated Bethel VermontĀ  3-0 in the semi-final. The entire match wasn’t very close but Bethel did put up a good fight.

Winning on court one and captain of the team was Christine Cecchetti partnered with Pauline Shea. Winning in straight sets, they make a great team and big things are expected from them in the finals.

Playing in the second spot was Milly Dunfey and partner Geri Jachim. They also won in two sets, and were the first to finish. This team would make a great number one team for most of the other teams in the league.

Playing in the third spot was Amy Hoffman and Linda Tanner. Again, winning in straight sets, Amy showed her versatility by powering her team to the win. When Amy plays on Saturday, she will be partnered with Jay Leavitt and they make as strong a team if not slightly stronger then the team of Hoffman/Tanner

Loon Pair

Loon pair swimming towards their young

This has been a great year to be out on Eastman Lake. The weather has been hot, the sky blue as can be and nesting Loon pairs are raising their young.

These photos were taken with a very good camera from a kayak and canoe on the lake. Loons are “private” birds and do not like to get close to humans. The photo of the head of the Loon is a very impressive shot. That bird must have dove after some food, swam under water and surfaced near the photographer.

This is just another reason Eastman NH is such a special place. (more…)

Interest Rates Are Amazingly Low

If you haven’t noticed recently interest rates have dropped to their lowest point in decades.

Local lenders all around Grantham NH have rates as low as 4.375% for a 30 year fixed rate loan. If you want a 5 year adjustable then how does 3.5% sound?

When I bought my first house in New London NH I was thrilled to have an interest rate of 7.99% I thought that was the best I would ever get. Back in November I purchases home number 4. Just 9 months ago I was happy to see 4.75% I’m still happy with this rate and who would have thought that rates would continue to drop?

So many “experts” were saying how rates would jump as high as 8% by the fall of 2010. I had serious reservations about that but I too thought rates would start to head higher. This down trend is perfect timing for the housing market and is really the true stimulus, an unforced natural effect of the “market place”. So unlike government interference and programs that cost so much money.

Buyers and sellers should take notice, do some math and figure out just how much money they can save.

Things To Do In Eastman 8/5/10

We are well into the first week of August and what a fantastic summer it has been so far this year!

The weather could not be better. Warm sunny days have been consistent and yes there has been a lack of rain but after the two previous summers we are more than due for no rain and hot sunny days.

Some of the highlights for the next two weeks include:

Jason Cann this Friday night at the Bistro. How about a woodland hike up Zealand Mt.? Lobster dinners at Peppermint Patties, that sounds like a hassle free way to enjoy a great meal.

Home for Sale Eastman NH

Welcome to 11 Barn Owl overlook in the community of Eastman in Grantham, New Hampshire. This home is over 2300 square feet. Three bedrooms, two and a half baths, and just a lot of space and a lot of fun in the community here. The sunshine comes in quite generously into the, well, eating area. Deck off through the sliders and a nice kitchen with big window out to the backyard. The loft upstairs, humongous window lets in plenty of light. But, what a great size room, hallway to the master and as we turn around here, look over the railing and we are looking down into the living room which the current owner uses as her favorite room. The propane stove adds great ambiance on those snowy winter nights.
