There are a lot of things you can ask your potential Realtor before you hire one. Marketing is always a standard as is when is the best time to sell. When you sell your home its one of the biggest financial decisions you will make in your life so you don’t want to make a mistake.
Here are some questions that should be asked:
1) How long have you been in business? You wouldn’t want to hire any professional that didn’t have any experience, make sure your Realtor has been in business several years. The connections a seasoned professional has are invaluable and pay dividends.
2) How many homes have you sold in this area? There is no better way to learn a local market then selling property there. A professional that has sold 20-30 properties or more, in a smaller area (like Eastman) is going to know the market and will be able to get the job done. If you are considering someone that has less than 10 sales in an area, you should think twice. Lack of market knowledge will cost you.
3) How long have you worked for XYZ Company? Have you changed offices or companies recently? A good Realtor has deep roots in an area, this will benefit any seller. A person thats only been with a company for a year or less will not have the connections needed to get your property sold for the best price. A person that has moved from office to office or company to company will probably do it again or leave the business all together. That is certainly not good for a seller, ultimately costing a seller wasted time on the market and a lot of money in the long run.
